The American Dream, a little pink house, picket fence etc etc. How can this be when poor boys fight a rich man's war for his tax returns from the oil conglomerates? The boys die and float over their homes hoping for what could have been, figuring out the truth way to late. The dream is always too far from my reality.
So, if you are chest thumping for this shitty ass war, sign up and go over seas and fight it. Otherwise, be in vocal opposition and grow some nuts.
Mhm. I love this stuff for the Saints and Sinner's show, these ones with the text in the banners in particular. The text kinda reminds me of the circus or fairgrounds... kinda something tawdry and tacky, but also (still) of proto-Renaissance religious works - like how sometimes there'd be a bit of narrative text in latin down the bottom. A lot of your stuff seems to be have the religion/earthly everyday contrast going and I bloody love it. Also, with this one, the telegraph polls in the background kinda remind me of a patriarchal cross (I think that's what it's called anyway). Was that intentional, or am I reading this in the wrong direction completely?
Gosh Thanks!!! The show went well. Only sold a few, which is okay. I am still falling in love with the pile in my studio. The text most def is derived from my love of small circuses and comic book covers, as a child, tacky and ornate, sloppy and windblown. I think religion definitely comes into play in my work. Not overtly of course, but because I wrestle with my faith on a daily basis. The telephone poles started as a gimmick that came from an accident I had, but have turned into otherworldly symbols for all kinds of things... You are right on. Thanks for appreciating my work and writing meaningful statements. Someday, I will send you one. D
A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
In this article you will find many thumbnails of the sun in different forms, all photography featured here by the club feature-me. Please show your support for these artists and their work and the article so that more people can see their work.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
